Michael Dunbar

In the first person...

Hi. My name is Michael Dunbar and I am a user interface designer and developer. I live in County Durham and work in Newcastle upon Tyne. I am employed by the lovely people at Clarity Informatics, where I work as a User Experience Designer.

I graduated from Northumbria University back in 1999 with a BA in English. I embarked on my career as a web designer during the dotcom boom armed with just notepad and a smidging of self-taught HTML knowledge.

I have been fortunate to work with some talented designers and developers. I quickly discovered CSS, JavaScript, web standards, wireframing, Photoshop and picked up some traditional, yet invaluable, graphic design skills. I learned how to design and build effective and enjoyable user experiences that happen on the web and via mobile devices.

I am first and foremost a designer, but I also love to help make my ideas into something people can use. I therefore studied computing and software development at a masters level and spent some time working as a C# .NET software developer.

I continue to learn more about and love what I do.
